Privacy policy

This is the personal portfolio of Krisna Bou (‘I’, ‘me’ or ‘my’), based in Brisbane, Queensland. I respect the privacy of everyone who visits krisnabou.com. This policy explains what personal information this site collects, why, and the choices available to you. It has been written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What this policy covers

This policy applies to krisnabou.com and to any email correspondence that follows from it. This is a personal portfolio site, not an online store or a service platform, so the information it handles is minimal.

Information I collect

I only collect information that is reasonably necessary to run this site and respond to you. This includes:

• Contact details you share directly, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message, whether through the contact form or by email.
• Basic usage data collected automatically through Google Analytics, such as which pages were visited, how long was spent on the site, the approximate location, the referring website, and the type of device and browser used. This data is aggregated and I do not use it to identify you.
• Standard server logs kept by the hosting provider, which can include your IP address and browser type.

Please do not include sensitive information such as health details, financial account numbers, or government identifiers in your message.

How I use your information

I use your contact details for one purpose: to read and reply to your message. I use analytics data only to understand how the site is being used so I can improve its content and performance. I do not add you to a mailing list, I do not send marketing, and I do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

Third-party services

This site relies on a small number of providers to run:

• Website hosting and domain services that store the site and any data submitted through it.
• Google Analytics, which helps me understand how the site is being used. Google processes usage data on my behalf and operates outside Australia. You can read how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/privacy.
• The email service that delivers your enquiry to my inbox.

These providers only handle the information needed to do their job. Where they operate outside Australia, I take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the APPs.

AI tools

I use AI assistants, mainly Anthropic’s Claude, in my day-to-day work, so it is worth being plain about where they touch this site. They help me design, write and build the site itself, which involves no visitor data at all.

They are not connected to your message. No AI system reads my inbox: your message arrives as ordinary email and I read it myself. Nothing on this site runs AI either. There is no chatbot, nothing about you is decided automatically, and no reply is written or sent automatically. I do not sell your information, and I do not give it to anyone to train AI models.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. These are measurement cookies, not advertising ones: this site does not run ads and does not use tracking for marketing. You can turn cookies off or clear them through your browser settings at any time, or opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site will work fine either way.

Storage and security

I take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including using reputable providers and secure connections. No online system can be made entirely secure, but very little information passes through this site, and I treat what does with care.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry messages only as long as they are useful for our conversation. Once an enquiry is no longer relevant, it is deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics and is aggregated rather than tied to you personally.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Just email me at krisna.bou@outlook.com and I will respond as soon as I can. If you have a concern about how your privacy has been handled, you are welcome to raise it with me directly or contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be available on this page, along with the date it was last updated.
